Alan Poul Biography
Alan Mark Poul (born May 1, 1954) is an American film and television producer and director. He is best known for his work on the HBO original series, Six Feet Under, where he served as executive producer and made his directing debut. Poul also directed episodes of CBS' series Swingtown and the romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan. He signed a new deal with HBO in 2011 and was an executive producer of Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom, directing several episodes. Poul was an executive producer on Tokyo Vice and directed its final episode. He has been nominated for 7 Primetime Emmys and won a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Historical Program for The Pacific Century.
