Alan Schwartz is an American businessman and executive chairman of Guggenheim Partners. He was previously the president and CEO of Bear Stearns until its acquisition by JPMorgan Chase in 2008. Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Schwartz is a 1972 graduate of Duke University, where he played baseball as a scholarship athlete. He joined Bear Stearns in 1976 and held various positions, including director of research and investment and executive vice president. Schwartz became Co-President and Co-COO of Bear Stearns in 2001. With his extensive experience in the financial industry, Schwartz has played a significant role in shaping the investment banking sector.
