Alberto Gonzales

Alberto R. Gonzales is an American lawyer and former politician. He was born on August 4, 1955. Gonzales served as the 80th United States Attorney General from 2005 to 2007, making him the highest-ranking Hispanic American in executive government to date. Before his tenure as Attorney General, he held various positions, including Secretary of State of Texas, Texas Supreme Court Justice, and White House Counsel, where he became the first Hispanic to hold that office. Gonzales's time as Attorney General faced controversy due to issues such as warrantless surveillance and the authorization of 'enhanced interrogation techniques.' He resigned from the office amidst calls for his removal.
