Alberto Vargas

Alberto Vargas (1896-1982) was a renowned Peruvian-American painter known for his iconic pin-up girl artwork. Born in Arequipa, Peru, he moved to the United States in 1916 after studying art in Europe. His early career in New York included working as an artist for the Ziegfeld Follies and various Hollywood studios. Vargas gained recognition for his striking pin-up paintings, which often featured glamorous female figures. He is considered one of the most famous pin-up artists of all time. His artwork continues to be highly sought after, with many Vargas paintings selling for significant sums. Notably, Vargas created the poster for the 1933 film 'The Sin of Nora Moran', which remains one of his most famous works in film.
