Alex Blake
Alex Blake, born Alejandro Blake Fearon Jr., is a jazz bass player known for his contributions to the fusion movement. He was born in Panama and moved to the United States at the age of 7, growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Blake began his career with Sun Ra in his band Arkestra and later became a major proponent of fusion in the late 1970s, collaborating with Lenny White and Billy Cobham. He has released albums both as a leader and as a member of various groups. Blake has also performed and recorded with Randy Weston and other musicians. Some notable releases include 'Especially for You' (1979) and 'Now Is the Time: Live at the Knitting Factory' (2000).
