Alex Kramer
Alex J. Kramer (May 30, 1903 – February 10, 1998) was a Canadian songwriter. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he began his career at age 17 as a pianist in a silent movie theater. He went on to join the Meyer Davis orchestra in Palm Beach, Florida, and later traveled to Paris and Cannes. In New York City, he became a radio bandleader and worked as an accompanist in nightclubs and vaudeville. As a songwriter, he achieved success with his wife and songwriting partner, Joan Whitney. Their first hit, 'High on a Windy Hill,' topped the charts in 1941. Kramer also coached vocalists in singing techniques. Unfortunately, the decline of the big band era led to the collapse of their song publishing business.
