Alice Wu
Alice Wu is an American film director and screenwriter known for her films Saving Face (2004) and The Half of It (2020). Born on April 21, 1970, in San Jose, California, Wu is of Taiwanese descent. She grew up in Los Altos, California, and graduated from Los Altos High School in 1986. Wu began her academic journey at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of 16 before transferring to Stanford University, where she earned her B.S. degree. Both of Wu's films feature Chinese-American main characters and explore the lives of intellectual, lesbian characters. Her authentic portrayal of the Taiwanese-American community in Saving Face has had a significant impact on Asian representation in the film industry.
