Alison Robertson is a New Zealand writer and journalist. Born on 19 March 1958 in Napier, she grew up in the same city. Robertson completed a diploma in journalism at Wellington Polytechnic in 1976 and went on to work as a sports reporter for Radio New Zealand until 1986. Since then, she has been a freelance writer, focusing on short stories and non-fiction texts for educational publishers such as Pearson Education. In 2000, her manuscript Knocked for Six won the Tom Fitzgibbon Award and was published the following year. Additionally, her novel received the Esther Glen Award at the 2002 LIANZA Children's Book Awards. Some of her notable works include Connecting Cultures, Know You're Talking, Finding Isabella, and Rocket Shoes.
