Allan Kendall Biography
Allan Crawford Kendall (29 September 1928 — 17 December 2013) was an Australian broadcaster and tennis player. Born in Orange, New South Wales, Kendall was a nephew of tennis player Jack Crawford. He attended Scots College in Sydney and was the 1946 NSW schoolboys singles champion. Kendall received blues in lawn tennis, squash, and table tennis while studying at the University of Sydney. In the 1950s and 1960s, he competed on the international tennis tour. Kendall retired from tennis to become involved in the arts and founded the Australian version of the BBC children's television show Play School. He worked for the ABC and was the inaugural presenter when the show premiered in 1966.
