Allen Burns
Allen Solomon Burns (31 August 1870 – 8 November 1925) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the South Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Born in Steiglitz, Victoria, Burns played as a half-forward and was known for his skill in kicking goals from acute angles. In 1894, he was the leading goalkicker for South Melbourne. Burns was the younger brother of Peter Burns, a legendary player for South Melbourne and Geelong. In a VFA match in 1896, Allen made a significant contribution to South's victory over Geelong. He passed away at the age of 55 in South Melbourne.
