Alva Chinn is an American fashion model of Chinese, English, Indian, and Black ancestry. Born and raised in Boston, she excelled academically and was the valedictorian of her high school class. After modeling for Mademoiselle magazine's college issue while attending the University of Massachusetts, she moved to New York to pursue a modeling career. Chinn has worked with renowned designers such as Halston, Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Chloé. She was also part of Halston's esteemed group of models called the Halstonettes. In addition to her successful modeling career, Chinn collaborated with designer Stephen Burroughs on a collection in 2004. Her contributions to the fashion industry have been recognized, including a Huffington Post Game Changer Award in 2011.
