Amanda Carter
Amanda Carter (born 16 July 1964) is an Australian Paralympic wheelchair basketball player. Diagnosed with transverse myelitis at the age of 24, she began playing wheelchair basketball in 1991 and represented Australia in the Gliders, the women's national wheelchair basketball team, at three Paralympics from 1992 to 2000. In 2000, she suffered an injury that led to a temporary withdrawal from the sport, but she made a comeback in 2009 and was part of the Australian team that won silver at the 2012 London Paralympics. Despite losing mobility in her right arm, Carter underwent multiple surgeries and rehabilitation to continue her career. She played for the Dandenong Rangers in the Australian Women's National Wheelchair Basketball League (WNWBL) after her comeback.
