Amrit Kaur
Amrit Kaur (1887-1964) was an Indian activist, politician, and the first Health Minister of India. She played a vital role in the Indian independence movement and served as Health Minister from 1947 to 1957. Kaur was also appointed as the Sports Minister and Urban Development Minister, and she played a key role in establishing the National Institute of Sports in Patiala. Throughout her tenure, Kaur implemented significant healthcare reforms and advocated for women's rights. Additionally, she was a member of the Constituent Assembly of India, which framed the Constitution of India. Amrit Kaur was born on February 2, 1887, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.
