Amy Chua, born on October 26, 1962, is an American corporate lawyer, legal scholar, and writer. She is known for her expertise in international business transactions, law and development, ethnic conflict, and globalization. Currently, Chua holds the John M. Duff Jr. Professor of Law position at Yale Law School, having joined the faculty in 2001 after teaching at Duke Law School for seven years. Prior to her teaching career, she worked as a corporate law associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. Chua gained further recognition for her parenting memoir, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. In 2011, she was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people and was honored as one of The Atlantic Brave Thinkers and Foreign Policy Global Thinkers.
