Amy Purdy
Amy Purdy is an American actress, model, para-snowboarder, motivational speaker, clothing designer, and author. Born on November 7, 1979, in Las Vegas, Purdy's life took a dramatic turn when she contracted Neisseria meningitidis at the age of 19. The disease resulted in septic shock, leading to the amputation of both her legs below the knee, the removal of her spleen, and the loss of both kidneys. With only a 2% chance of survival, Purdy defied the odds and received a kidney transplant from her father two years later. Showing incredible resilience, she started snowboarding just seven months after receiving her prosthetic legs and went on to become a Paralympic bronze medalist in 2014 and a silver medalist in 2018. Purdy is also the co-founder of Adaptive Action Sports.
