Andrea White

Andrea White is an American novelist and civic leader. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she moved to Houston in the 1950s and attended Memorial High School. She obtained her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas and worked as a partner in the law firm Locke Liddell. After the birth of her second child, she turned her writing hobby into a profession. White's first book, Surviving Antarctica, was published in 2005 and gained recognition on several reading lists, including the Texas Bluebonnet Award list. She received the Golden Spur Children's Literature award in 2006 for her work. Andrea White is married to former Houston mayor Bill White.
