Andrew Boyle (27 May 1919 – 22 April 1991) was a Scottish journalist and biographer known for his notable works. Born in Dundee, Scotland, Boyle received his education at Blairs College in Aberdeen and the University of Paris. During World War II, he served in Britain's military intelligence in the Far East. Post-war, Boyle joined the BBC as a radio scriptwriter and producer. In 1965, he became the founding editor of the BBC Radio 4 program 'The World At One,' which gained widespread recognition. Boyle's most acclaimed works include a biography of Brendan Bracken, which won the 1974 Whitbread Awards, and 'The Climate of Treason,' exposing Anthony Blunt as the 'Fourth Man' in the Cambridge Five Soviet spy ring. He also authored definitive biographies of Lord Trenchard and Erskine Childers, among others.
