Andrew Brooks

Andrew Ira Brooks (February 10, 1969 - January 23, 2021) was an American immunologist, academic, and businessman. He was known for his work as an associate research professor at Rutgers University and as the developer of the first FDA-approved rapid saliva test for COVID-19 diagnosis. Born in Bronxville, New York, on February 10, 1969, Brooks grew up in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. He attended Cornell University, majoring in animal sciences, but switched his focus to neuroscience after a summer internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering. In 2000, he received a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Rochester. Brooks held positions at the University of Rochester and Rutgers University, where he made significant contributions to the field of immunology.
