Aneesh Paul Chopra is an American executive who served as the first Chief Technology Officer of the United States from 2009 to 2012. Born on July 13, 1972, in Trenton, New Jersey, Chopra is the eldest son of Indian immigrants Ram and Neelam Chopra. He graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in 1990 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University. He later obtained a Master of Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Chopra also served as Virginia's Secretary of Technology under Governor Tim Kaine and was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2013. He is the author of 'Innovative State: How New Technologies Can Transform Government' and currently works as co-founder and president of CareJourney and as a senior advisor at Albright Stonebridge Group.
