    Anne Rice (1941–2021) was an American author known for her gothic fiction, erotic literature, and Christian literature. She gained recognition for her series of novels, The Vampire Chronicles, with the first book, 'Interview with the Vampire,' being adapted into a film in 1994. Rice was born Howard Allen Frances O'Brien in New Orleans and later moved to Texas and San Francisco. Raised in a Catholic family, she became an agnostic in her youth. Rice started her writing career with the publication of 'Interview with the Vampire' in 1976 and went on to write sequels. In the 2000s, she published novels inspired by Jesus' life after returning to Catholicism briefly. Rice was a prominent figure in the literary world.
