Annette Gordon-Reed (born November 19, 1958) is an American historian and law professor. She currently holds the position of Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University, where she teaches history in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences. Prior to this, she served as the Charles Warren Professor of American Legal History and the Carol K. Pforzheimer Professor at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. Gordon-Reed is known for her groundbreaking work on Thomas Jefferson's relationship with Sally Hemings and their children, which has significantly influenced scholarship on the subject. She received numerous accolades for her book on the Hemings family, including the Pulitzer Prize for History, the National Book Award for Nonfiction, and a MacArthur Fellowship.
