Armen Garo Biography
Armen Garo, born Garegin Pastermadjian on February 9, 1872, was an Armenian activist and politician. He was a prominent member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation for over 20 years. Garo played a crucial role in the 1896 occupation of the Ottoman Bank in response to the Hamidian massacres and was involved in Operation Nemesis, which targeted the perpetrators of the Armenian genocide for assassination. From 1918 to 1920, he served as the first ambassador to the United States from the First Republic of Armenia. Garo began his education in Erzurum and later continued his studies in France at the Agricultural School of Nancy-Université. He made significant contributions to the Armenian cause and left a lasting impact.
