    Art Shamsky Biography
    Art Shamsky, born on October 14, 1941, is an American former Major League Baseball player. He played right field, left field, and first base from 1965 to 1972 for teams such as the Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Oakland Athletics. Shamsky is best known for tying a major league record by homering in four consecutive at-bats in 1966. He was also a key player on the 1969 World Series Champion Miracle Mets, batting .300 with 14 home runs and hitting .538 in the post-season. Additionally, Shamsky managed the Modi'in Miracle of the Israel Baseball League in 2007. Born in St. Louis to William and Sadie Shamsky, he grew up in the University City neighborhood and attended University City High School, where he played on the baseball team.
