Aubrey Manning
Aubrey Manning (24 April 1930 – 20 October 2018) was an English zoologist and broadcaster. He was known for his expertise in animal behavior, development, and evolution. Manning was born in Chiswick and later moved to Englefield Green in Surrey to escape the Blitz during the Second World War. He studied zoology at University College London and completed his DPhil at Merton College, Oxford. After serving in the Royal Artillery during National Service, he joined the University of Edinburgh as an assistant lecturer in 1956. Manning was a professor of Natural History at the university from 1973 to 1997. He also played a significant role in environmental issues and was involved with the Centre for Human Ecology at the University of Edinburgh.
