Audrey Walker (3 July 1928 - 17 November 2020) was a British textile artist, embroiderer, and teacher. She gained recognition for her innovative style of embroidery, combining fine threads applied by machine and by hand to create striking figurative wall-hung artworks. Born in Workington, Cumbria, in 1928, Walker attended the local grammar school before studying art at the Edinburgh College of Art from 1944 to 1948 and The Slade School of Art in London from 1948 to 1951. After graduating, she taught art in schools in Leeds and London before dedicating herself to her own artistic practice. Audrey Walker's unique embroidery techniques continue to inspire textile artists and her works remain highly regarded.
