Aurora James

Aurora James is a Canadian creative director, activist, and fashion designer. Born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to a Ghanaian father and a Canadian mother, she spent her childhood between Canada and Jamaica. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2010 and later to New York City, James embarked on a journey across Africa in 2011, which inspired her to promote traditional African design practices and techniques. In 2013, she founded Brother Vellies, a fashion label aimed at showcasing the work of African artisans. Additionally, James founded the 15 Percent Pledge in 2020, a non-profit organization supporting Black-owned businesses. Her memoir, Wildflower, is set to be released in 2023.
