Bairbre Dowling Biography
Bairbre Dowling (27 March 1953 – 20 January 2016) was an Irish actress known for her work in films, on the American stage, and on US TV. Born in Dublin, she was the daughter of actor Vincent Dowling and actress Brenda Doyle. Dowling began her career as part of the company at the Abbey Theatre, where she appeared in productions such as The Becauseway (1970) and Rites (1973). She also performed alongside her father at the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival in Cleveland, Ohio in 1977. Dowling appeared on Broadway in Da by Hugh Leonard and shared the stage with her husband Colm Meaney in And a Nightingale Sang (1985). She tragically passed away in 2016.
