Benjamin Crowninshield Bradlee (August 26, 1921 – October 21, 2014) was an American journalist known for his work as the managing editor and executive editor of The Washington Post from 1965 to 1991. He gained public recognition when the Post, along with The New York Times, published the Pentagon Papers and extensively covered the Watergate scandal. Bradlee faced criticism for editorial lapses, leading to the return of a Pulitzer Prize in 1981 when a story was discovered to be false. After retiring, he remained associated with the Post as Vice President at-large until his death. Bradlee also served on the boards of several educational, historical, and archaeological research institutions.
