    Ben Chase, born Benjamin Semple Chase III on March 18, 1923, was an American football guard who played for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL). He attended Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego, California, where he excelled in football. After high school, Chase played college football at the United States Naval Academy, where he became a consensus All-American in 1944. Following his college career, Chase joined the Detroit Lions for one season. Although his NFL career was short-lived, Chase made a significant impact during his time as a professional football player. He passed away on March 6, 1998, leaving behind a legacy in the world of American football.
