Ben Hecht
Ben Hecht (February 28, 1894 – April 18, 1964) was an American screenwriter, director, producer, playwright, journalist, and novelist. He began his career as a journalist and later became a celebrated playwright and screenwriter. He is credited with writing or co-writing the stories or screenplays for approximately seventy films. Hecht's notable works include the reporter-themed play 'The Front Page,' which became a Broadway hit. He is recognized as one of the most successful screenwriters in the history of motion pictures. Throughout his career, Hecht wrote 35 books and was a prominent figure in literary circles. He passed away on April 18, 1964.
