Bernard Addison
Bernard Addison (1905-1990) was an American jazz guitarist known for his contributions to the music industry. Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Addison began his musical journey at an early age, learning mandolin and violin. He later relocated to Washington, D.C., where he started playing banjo with Claude Hopkins. Moving to New York City, he transitioned to the acoustic guitar and collaborated with renowned artists such as Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, and Art Tatum. In 1936, Addison joined the Mills Brothers as their guitarist, touring and recording with them for two years. Following his time with the Mills Brothers, he continued to find success, recording with Benny Carter and Mezz Mezzrow.
