Bill Moyers

Bill Moyers (born Billy Don Moyers; June 5, 1934) is an American journalist and political commentator. He gained prominence as the eleventh White House Press Secretary under the Johnson administration from 1965 to 1967. Additionally, he served as a director of the Council on Foreign Relations from 1967 to 1974. With a decade-long stint as a network TV news commentator, Moyers has contributed significantly to the field of journalism. He is well-known for his investigative journalism and criticism of the corporately structured U.S. news media. Moyers has received numerous awards and honorary degrees for his work in public broadcasting, including producing documentaries and news journal programs. Born in Hugo, Oklahoma, his career in journalism began at a young age as a cub reporter at the Marshall News Messenger.
