Billy Armstrong, born William Armstrong on June 21, 1943, is an Ulster Unionist politician in Northern Ireland. He served as the Assembly Member for Mid Ulster from 1998 to 2011, when he was succeeded by his daughter, Sandra Overend. Armstrong was a member of various committees, including Agriculture and Rural Development, Enterprise, Trade & Industry, and Environment. Additionally, he contested Mid Ulster in the Westminster General Election in 2005, becoming the first Ulster Unionist candidate to do so since 1983. Apart from his political career, Armstrong served as a part-time Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve Constable for fourteen years. He is also an active member of Brigh Presbyterian Church and holds positions in organizations like the Loyal Orange Order and the Royal Black Institution.
