Billy Evans
Billy Evans, born William George Evans on February 10, 1884, was an American umpire in Major League Baseball and a key front office executive. He worked as an umpire in the American League from 1906 to 1927, becoming the youngest umpire in major league history at age 22. At age 25, he officiated in the World Series, becoming the youngest umpire to do so. Evans retired at age 43 after umpiring 3,319 games, ranking fifth in major league history. He also served as a home plate umpire for 1,757 games, the third-most in AL history. Evans was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
