Billy Preston (1946–2006) was an American keyboardist, singer, and songwriter known for his versatile work in R&B, rock, soul, funk, and gospel music. In the 1960s, he gained recognition as a top session keyboardist, collaborating with notable artists like Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, the Everly Brothers, Reverend James Cleveland, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. Preston achieved success as a solo artist with hit singles including 'That's the Way God Planned It,' 'Outa-Space,' 'Will It Go Round in Circles,' 'Nothing from Nothing,' and 'With You I'm Born Again.' He co-wrote the popular song 'You Are So Beautiful,' which became a hit for Joe Cocker. Notably, Preston is credited as a musician on the Beatles' single 'Get Back,' making him one of only two non-Beatle musicians to receive such recognition.
