Bob Schieffer is an American television journalist known for his moderation of presidential debates. Born on February 25, 1937, he has had an illustrious career, covering all four major Washington national assignments: the White House, the Pentagon, United States Department of State, and United States Congress. Schieffer has been with CBS News since 1969 and has interviewed every United States President since Richard Nixon. He served as the anchor on the Saturday edition of CBS Evening News for 20 years, from 1976 to 1996, and was the Chief Washington Correspondent from 1982 to 2015. Additionally, he moderated the Sunday public affairs show, Face the Nation, from 1991 to 2015. Schieffer's contributions to journalism have been widely recognized and appreciated.
