    Bob Sorenson Biography
    Robert Gordon Sorenson (19 September 1923 – 25 May 2016) was a New Zealand rugby union player and coach, and a cricketer. He played as a fullback for the Auckland provincial team between 1942 and 1949, earning 40 appearances and scoring 176 points. Sorenson later became the coach of the Auckland representative team from 1964 to 1966, during which they won the Ranfurly Shield and defeated the touring South African team in 1965. He was a life member of the New Zealand Barbarian Rugby Club, serving as club captain from 1954 to 1959 and president from 1969 to 1970. Sorenson also played two first-class cricket matches for Auckland in the 1943/44 season as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He took six wickets at an average of 31.66 and scored 58 runs with a high score of 29. Sorenson passed away in Auckland in 2016.
