Bobby Sherwood
Bobby Sherwood (May 30, 1914 – January 23, 1981) was an American guitarist, trumpeter, bandleader, and radio host. He began his musical career playing banjo in his parents' orchestra at the age of 12. In 1933, Sherwood replaced Eddie Lang as Bing Crosby's guitarist and remained with him until the early 1940s. He also worked as a studio musician for MGM in Hollywood. From 1940 to 1941, Sherwood served as the bandleader for Eddie Cantor's radio program on NBC. He was a regular on the Hillman Hour program on KFWB in Los Angeles in 1940. Sherwood married Dorothy Virginia Gumm, Judy Garland's sister, and worked as a bandleader for Garland during sessions at Decca Records. He formed his own big band, which featured musicians like Dave Pell and Kitty Kallen.
