Brandon Johnson

Brandon Johnson (born March 27, 1976) is an American educator and politician. He currently serves as the 57th mayor of Chicago, having been elected in April 2023. Prior to becoming mayor, Johnson served on the Cook County Board of Commissioners from 2018 to 2023, representing the 1st district. He was elected to the County Board after defeating incumbent Commissioner Richard Boykin in the Democratic primary election. Johnson is known as a political progressive and is the city's fourth African American mayor. Born in Elgin, Illinois, he has dedicated his career to public service and is committed to making positive changes for the city of Chicago.
