Brandon Emil Phillips (born June 28, 1981) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, and Boston Red Sox. Phillips, standing at 6 ft and weighing 211 lb, batted and threw right-handed. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Phillips was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1999. He made his MLB debut in 2002 with the Cleveland Indians. Phillips joined the Cincinnati Reds in 2006, where he became known as one of the best second basemen in baseball, winning four Gold Glove Awards and one Silver Slugger Award, while being selected to three National League All-Star teams.
