Brian Patrick Carlson (12 February 1933 – 14 April 1987) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. Known as a utility back, he played for the Australia national team, earning 17 Test caps and participating in 6 World Cup games between 1952 and 1961. Carlson, considered one of the country's finest footballers of the 20th century, was raised in Newcastle, New South Wales, where he excelled in various sports including cricket and surf lifesaving. He began his rugby league career with the Newcastle Rugby League's Norths club in 1951 and made his representative debut for Country Firsts in 1952.
