Brian Alexander Johnston (24 June 1912 – 5 January 1994), nicknamed Johnners, was a British cricket commentator, author, and television presenter. He was most prominently associated with the BBC during a career which lasted from 1946 until his death in January 1994. Born on 24 June 1912 in Little Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, Johnston was the youngest of four children. His grandfather had been Governor of the Bank of England, and his first cousin was a World War II airborne division commander. After his father's death, his mother remarried. Johnston was known for his distinctive voice and jovial commentating style, endearing him to cricket fans worldwide.
