George 'Buddy' Guy, born on July 30, 1936, is an American blues guitarist and singer. He is known for being a prominent figure in Chicago blues and has had a significant influence on numerous guitarists including Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr., and John Mayer. In the 1960s, Guy played as a session guitarist at Chess Records and collaborated with blues harp virtuoso Junior Wells. Throughout his career, Guy has received numerous accolades including eight Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Medal of Arts, and the Kennedy Center Honors. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 23rd on their list of the '100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time' and his song 'Stone Crazy' was included in their list of the '100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time'. Guy has written two books; 'Damn Right I've Got the Blues' in 1999 and his autobiography 'When I Left Home: My Story' in 2012.
