Carla Lalli Music

Carla Lalli Music is an American chef, cookbook author, and YouTube personality. She gained recognition as the food editor at large of Bon Appétit and for her appearances in videos produced for the magazine's YouTube channel, including her role as the host of Back-to-Back Chef. Born to an Italian-American family, Music's mother worked as a food critic and cookbook editor. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in Modern Culture and Media in 1994 and attended the French Culinary Institute. Music has worked in food service, including as a line chef for Rocco DiSpirito and the first general manager of Shake Shack. She later transitioned to food writing and became an instructor in culinary management. In 2020, Music left Bon Appétit amid allegations of racial discrimination.
