Carlos Carrera (born August 18, 1962) is a Mexican film director and screenwriter known for his work in the film industry. He gained recognition for directing El crimen del Padre Amaro (2002), a film that received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Carrera's notable directorial work includes the film Backyard (2009), which explores the female homicides in Ciudad Juárez and was honored with a silver plaque at the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival.
