Carlos Miranda Biography
Carlos Miranda, born Luis Carlos Miranda Cordal on July 17, 1945, in Santiago, Chile, is a Spanish composer, pianist, conductor, and actor. He began his career in Chile, studying composition with Gustavo Becerra-Schmidt and piano with Flora Guerra. Miranda then moved to Italy, where he apprenticed on films by renowned directors Franco Zeffirelli and Pier Paolo Pasolini. Eventually settling in London, he worked as an accompanist to American cabaret singer Militia Battlefield and as a pianist repetiteur at The Dance Centre in Covent Garden. Miranda also studied piano with Harry Platts, composition with John Lambert, and conducting with Vernon Handley at the Royal College of Music in London. He later joined the Rambert Dance Company as a pianist.
