Carmen Carter Biography
Carmen Cecilia Carter (born 1954) is an American science fiction writer known for her bestselling novels set in the Star Trek universe. She was born on October 21, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas. Carter obtained a BA from UT Austin and an MS from Indiana University. While working as a freelance audiovisual production manager in New York City, she pursued writing as a hobby for twenty years. However, with the publication of her first book, Dreams of the Raven, which became a New York Times paperback bestseller, Carter reconsidered her perspective on writing. She went on to publish several more books, including Doomsday World, which also achieved New York Times bestseller status. Her most recent book, The Devil's Heart, was released in 1994.
