Carol Harris
Carol Harris (March 26, 1923 – August 7, 2021) was an American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame horsewoman and one of the first women American Quarter Horse Association's (AQHA) judges. Born in New Jersey, she spent her childhood in West Orange, where she developed a passion for animals, particularly horses and dogs. Harris bred, trained, and showed various breeds including Standardbreds, Hackney ponies, Arabians, Saddlebreds, and Tennessee Walkers. After graduating from Westover School in 1941, she embarked on a trip to California and Arizona where she encountered an American Quarter Horse for the first time. Throughout her career, Harris judged at the prestigious AQHA World Championship Show, becoming the first woman to hold this position.
