Carter Nicholas Oosterhouse is an American television personality and former model, born on September 19, 1976, in Traverse City, Michigan. Oosterhouse rose to fame as a carpenter on the TLC series Trading Spaces and has since hosted various home improvement and how-to television shows. In 2008, he hosted three HGTV network shows: Carter Can, Red Hot & Green, and Million Dollar Rooms. Oosterhouse began his carpentry career at the age of 10, learning as an apprentice to his neighbor. He pursued a formal education at Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools and holds a B.A. in nutrition and communication from Central Michigan University. With a passion for film and television, he moved to Los Angeles to further his career.
