Catriona Seth

Catriona Jane Seth (born 30 August 1964) is a British scholar of French literature and the history of ideas. She currently holds the position of Marshal Foch Professor of French Literature at the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Seth was born in Worsthorne, Lancashire, England and holds both Irish and British citizenship. She has had a diverse upbringing, having lived in England, Scotland, Switzerland, Belgium, and South America. Seth obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in law and modern languages from Magdalen College, Oxford, and further pursued her studies at Paris-Sorbonne University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1995.
